Cast in sterling silver from an ancient Roman coin, this reversible ring brings together the portrait of Emperor Probus and the figure of Pax, the Roman personification of peace. Probus ruled from AD 276–282; on the reverse, Pax holds an olive branch and sceptre beneath an inscription expressing the promise of imperial peace.
The circular face swivels within a smooth, simple band, allowing either side to be worn uppermost. Its irregular edges and textured surface preserve the character of the original coin, while an oxidised finish deepens the recesses and allows the raised portrait, lettering and delicate details to catch the light.
Available sizes: S / 50, M / 53, L / 56, XL / 58 and XXL / 65.
We use European ring sizing, where the number indicates the internal circumference in millimetres. Size 53, for example, measures 53mm around the inside of the band. Please use the numerical size as your guide.
Designed by Victoria Varrasso, founder of Manteau Noir, our sterling silver jewellery collection draws on a love of antiquity and the pleasure of discovering unusual objects. Historical motifs and treasured finds are reinterpreted as pieces to wear, preserving something of the character that first made them compelling.
Oxidised finishes bring depth to the silver, highlighting intricate details and evoking the patina of time. A collection shaped by curiosity and an appreciation for the past, made to become part of your own story.
