“WE ARE PRIVILEGED TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY THESE DAILY RITUALISTIC PLEASURES. THE CONFIDENCE YOU FEEL WHEN WEARING A WONDERFULLY CUT LINEN DRESS, THE COMFORT YOU EXPERIENCE FROM THE SOFTEST CASHMERE SOCKS, OR THE AMAZING SCENT FROM A CANDLE THAT REMINDS YOU OF A RAINY DAY IN PARIS, SPENT WITH A DEAR FRIEND. EVERYTHING IN OUR STORE IS SPECIAL, BEAUTIFUL AND SENSORY. EVERYTHING HAS A PURPOSE, EVERYTHING IS DELIBERATE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, ETHICALLY MADE.”
In late 2013 I moved from Melbourne to Central Victoria and began developing our Manteau Noir store and womenswear brand. I wanted to create timeless and ethically made women's wardrobe staples. The garments were to be produced with natural fibres and convey a feeling of modesty and authenticity. I sourced beautiful textiles, predominately linen, and began perfecting our relaxed cut and refined construction techniques with our team. We launched our clothing brand in 2014, in conjunction with our official store opening. In 2017 we added our Italian made Victoria Varrasso Shoe Collection. I am incredibly grateful that I can pursue what I love and that other like-minded women of diverse ages and sizes connect with our brands. The growth of our retail, online and wholesale businesses has only been made possible, due to the amazing support of my husband, our fabulous team and the wonderful suppliers and skilled artisans that we work with.
