Inspired by poet Leonard Cohen’s famous quote “There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in”, this beautiful slip dress design celebrates the ways our experiences shape us, and the perfect beauty of imperfection. Created using pieces of Delft tile from the 1700’s — including two Italianate landscape scenes — we chose to leave in the cracks and slight imperfections from the original ceramic in our final print. The trim comes from an 1867 British book on classical ornamentation, and an earthenware plaque from the Netherlands painted in 1780.
